Through our partnership with employers, we facilitate the arrangement for them to cover recruitment and immigration costs on your behalf as part of the employment package. If you accept your employment offer as part of the Esprit Talent process you will be partnered with an immigration lawyer who will work on your individual Visa case.
Minimum requirements include
- Nursing Bachelor degree from an accredited university
- 2 years work experience as a nurse
- IELTs test score of 5 in each band or OET test score of B in each area (not required for candidates migrating from Ireland, Canada, UK or USA)
- Aged 42 year and under for a permanent visa, no age limit for a temporary visa
- Good health, character and standing (no criminal record)
If you accept your employment offer as part of the People4Purpose process you will be partnered with an immigration lawyer who will work on your individual Visa case.

Applicants must demonstrate their English language proficiency in one of the following ways:
1. Primary Language Criteria:
- Completion of a minimum of six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed exclusively in English within a recognised country, including at least two years between grades 7 and 12.
- The tertiary qualification in the relevant field, which supports your registration eligibility, was taught and assessed entirely in English within a recognized country.
- For registered nurses/midwives: Evidence of a minimum two-year full-time equivalent pre-registration program approved by the regulatory body in a recognised country.
- For enrolled nurses: Evidence of a minimum one-year full-time equivalent preregistration program approved by the regulatory body in a recognised country.
2. Registered Nurses and Midwives:
- Proof of at least five years (full-time equivalent) of continuous education taught and assessed in English, in a recognised country, including tertiary qualifications in the relevant field, completed within the last five years.
3. Enrolled Nurses:
- Proof of at least five years (full-time equivalent) of continuous education taught and assessed in English, in a recognised country, including vocational qualifications in the relevant field, completed within the last five years.
4. English Language Tests:
Achieve the minimum required scores in one of the approved English language tests. Please refer to either of the following approved provider’s websites for more information
- International English Language Testing System – (IELTS- Academic)
- OET – The leading English test for healthcare professionals – OET (both nurses and midwives are able to sit the nursing OET)
- Test of English as a foreign language internet-based test – TOEFL iBT
- Pearson test of English academic – PTE Academic
The test results are valid if obtained within two years before application or if continuous employment or enrollment in a Board-approved program of study is maintained since the test.
APHRA Registration
The points below outline the new standard’s potential to streamline the process, benefiting both healthcare practitioners and the Australian health system.
Streamlined Registration Process:
The new process aims to reduce the time and complexity for IQRNs, potentially completing registration within 1-6 months (compared to the current 9-12 months). The reform removes the need for exams or qualification upgrades for eligible nurses.
Eligibility Criteria:
* IQRNs must have registered and practiced in a comparable jurisdiction (e.g., UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Singapore, Spain).
* They must demonstrate at least 1,800 hours of practice in a comparable jurisdiction since 2017.
* Nurses must meet the same mandatory registration standards as Australian-trained nurses.
Benefits of the reform:
* Reduces costs for IQRNs, including travel, accommodation, and examination fees.
* Aims to ease workforce pressures in Australian health, aged care, and primary care sectors, especially in rural and remote areas.
* Provides more flexibility to meet the recommendations of the Independent Review of Australia’s Regulatory Settings for Overseas Health Practitioners.
Collaborative Effort:
The reform is a joint initiative between the NMBA (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia), Ahpra (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), and Australian governments.
Review and Evaluation:
A review will be conducted one year after the standard’s implementation to assess its impact and effectiveness, with an eye on further improvements.
Target Audience:
The standard is particularly beneficial for experienced IQRNs who are already working in approved jurisdictions and are ready to meet Australian standards.
